Thanks for Critty Joy for hosting today...
“The godly are directed by their honesty.” ~ Proverbs 11:5 NLT

From the time w are children, we are taught that honesty is the best policy, but sometimes, being honest is hard. So, we convince ourselves that it is alright to tell “Little white lies.” But there’s a problem: Little white lies tend to grow up, and when they do, they cause havoc and pain in our lives.

For Christians, the issue of honesty is not a topic for debate. Honesty is not just the best policy, it is God’s policy, pure and simple. And if we are to be servants worthy of our Savior, Jesus Chris, we must avoid all lies, white or otherwise. So, if you’re tempted to ow the seeds of deception (perhaps in the form of a “harmless” white lie), resist that temptation. Truth is God’s way, and a lie of whatever color is not.

Beautiful picture and great reminder...let your yes be yes and your no be no. I think that is why I would also tell my children "maybe" when they asked to do something, but I didn't want my yes to turn into a lie (in their eyes) when we weren't able to do something.

Blessings! Great words of wisdom and insights! How very true...let our lips be pure and honest with only words of truth and God's truth is the only way and the BEST! Still love this calm, serene picture!

That is what I try to live daily and what I try to instill in my children. I would rather get in trouble and face the consequences for telling the truth than to live uncomfortably with a lie. It's too much hassle to try and remember what I said and to whom. Besides, it's one of the things that God finds most abhorant. Great verse! And a great reminder that we can find peace with the Truth instead of a lie - whether it be one of our own making or one of the enemy's making.

VERY well said and thank you for this post. We ALL need a reminder of this as there are always opportunities for lies, exaggeration (just another form of lying), etc.

I loved this, truly!

Those lies are all black black black...one of the clever ones of us should do something graffic with that but unfortunately white lies are not called such in the Bible.
Maybe in the message or the living Bible...
I have to make a phone call re some replacement bulbs that arrived today...I think they have re sent them when they actually replaced them last year. Tempting to keep them...but "it just ain't honest"

Excellent! A wonderful verse. Satan is the father of lies. We're to imitate our Father in Heaven instead. :~D

That is all too true. The devil is the father of all lies, and he operates by deception. We show whose side we're really on when we engage in any lie. Including those that are masquerading as half-truths.

What a pretty picture. And, honesty is always the best policy and we are directed by God to be honest in all things.
