During this busy time of year, it is easy for us to forget our pets and their safety. You decorate your home with many different beautiful things but is it all safe for little Fido or Fluffy? Dogs and cats especially are curious animals. They will get into everything if you let them. Cats are drawn to bright colorful shiny items and dogs just like anything they can get in their mouths and run with. I can't tell you how many times I have found my favorite stuffed Christmas toy in my dogs bed.

Tinsel and garland are particularly dangerous to pets. If eaten, they are not digested very well and they can cause a lot of damage to your pets insides. If you do have a dog or cat, you would be better off not using either one of these; opt instead for a string of plastic candies or toys to put on your tree.

Poinsettia plants are beautiful but are deadly poisonous to pets. Under no circumstances should you have one in your home if you have a dog or cat. If this plant is eaten it could kill them.

If in the event your pet becomes sick by something in your home during the holidays, take them to the vet as soon as possible. Before you leave make sure you set your homes security alarm from
